Biggest wave ever for Twiggy? Posted on August 14th

Billabong.com/za - Grant ‘Twiggy’ Baker rode what he says was the biggest wave he has ever ridden in Cape Town on Saturday when he and fellow Billabong team rider Greg Long towed each other into waves estimated to be over 70 foot (22 metres) in height.

The 35 year-old from Umhlanga, near Durban, and Long, 25, from San Clemente, California, started the day towing into waves at Dungeons, the notorious open ocean reef outside Hout Bay where Baker won the 10th anniversary edition of the Red Bull Big Wave Africa paddle-in event two weeks ago.

It’s a big call from Baker, but he does have the credentials to back it up. Grant is well respected on the ASP World Tour as well as having the balls to take on the biggest waves in the world. By all reports a top bloke as well.

To read the rest of the story you can head over to The Adventurist where Jason has reported more on this awesome ride.

At the Billabong South Africa site you can read up a bit more about Twiggy as well as exploring their totally sick website.

To find out how you can get fit for surfing paddle over to mountainfit conditioning. With a custom-designed program from mountainfit you’ll be taking on Dungeon’s in no time!
