Conditioning for adventure, outdoors and life

The stark truth is, that, most of us live in urban areas - cities and towns. Thanks to work, family and all sorts of other excuses we do not get outside nearly as much as we should or would like to. When we do, we lack ‘mountain fitness’, much like a footballer who may train hard following an injury, still lacks ‘match fitness’.

Don’t head into the mountains, onto the river or into the skies at anything but a peak level of fitness. Have mountainfit develop a tailor-made conditioning and/or nutrition program for you. Focus on a single outdoor pursuit, multi-sport activities or general health and fitness for the outdoors and life.

Are you are heading off to Everest Base Camp? Machu Picchu? Aconcagua? The Alps? You can expect more than a tough time if you have not put a great deal of effort into you physical conditioning preparation. Step class? A brisk walk? 5-a-side footy? Forget it!

You need a focused training routine to help get you there. This does not mean a complex, spread-sheeted, body-part split, am/pm, 7 days per week schedule. Just good, hard, honest effort targeting the systems that you will utilise on the mountain, on the water and wherever else you may be lucky enough to find yourself.

At mountainfit, we will design a conditioning program that will fit as seamlessly as possible into your already busy schedule - without comprimising your results.

mountainfit custom-designed programs lead the way to get you in the best possible condition to achieve your goals and dreams!

Why choose mountainfit over your ever so charming personal trainer at your local spa or fitness centre?

First and foremost - experience! I know, cause I’ve been! My outdoor, adventure and expedition experience is listed for all to see. Beyond this, I hold a Bachelors degree in Sport and Exercise Science and am a member of the UK Strength and Conditioning Association.

However, all the qualifications and certificates in the world do not amount to a thing without real world experience and know how. My degree and professional memberships have taught and give me access to, cutting-edge research which must then be applied to uncontrolled environments. This requires more than a fit body, but a fit mind and strong heart as well.

Venturing into the outdoors, whether that means onto a marked trail for the weekend, a sweet surf spot, tackling a steep MTB ascent or a full blown expedition takes more than just average conditioning. It takes more than the conditioning effort required to look sharp in a new outfit for the weekend.

The difference in in your output and quality of effort could mean the difference between life and death. At the very least it means the difference between achieving your goals or going home soaking wet, sore and your tail between your legs.

mountainfit outdoor conditioning specialises in preparing any type of athlete to go into uncontrolled environments and have the best possible chance of success, enjoyment and importantly, survival.

Can your average personal trainer stake this claim? Short answer? - NO BLOODY WAY!
